Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies is based on the extensive experience of Klous + Brandjes Architecten. Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies not only designs for third parties, but also details all Klous + Brandjes Architecten designs. Both businesses give their employees the space they need to innovate and develop themselves personally. Through personal coaching the qualities en competencies of our employees are strengthened. This helps everyone to bring out the best in themselves and develop their own special skills.
The core team of Klous + Brandjes is complemented by a number of building modelers, mainly participants of the BIM Academy, that can help out when needed.
Special activities and publications
As one-time pilot user of the Autodesk BIM360Enterprise environment, Cad&Company have asked us to tell you something about our application. BIM 360 enables us to develop a flawless virtual building with internal and external team members, and to share this information with everybody on multiple devices.
We currently use BIM360DOCS and BIM360GLUE for all our projects.
A visit to Klous + Brandjes, an architectural and advice bureau. They design buildings and also take care of the technical specifications. The main advantage Office 365 has to offer for Klous + Brandjes? The capability to work on any device, to work remotely and to synchronize email, calendar and documents. It allows everybody to work together seamlessly and everybody knows where to find that one colleague with just the right expertise.
In 2009 Klous + Brandjes has changed course! In addition to the architectural firm, we established building advice bureau: Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies. We started mainly innovating in BIM with Autodesk Revit. The employees have studied the applications of this building modeling tool, and by supporting each other and practicing together, the whole office was able to switch to this 3D software simultaneously. Now, we only work with Revit and still see endless possibilities and advantages this tool has to offer. A logical next step was working together in BIM, which has now become routine for us.

As Klous + Brandjes Architecten project manager, I manage all types of projects from development to execution. I also manage medium to large projects, the utilities and other project related subjects. Besides project management, I very much enjoy inventing and monitoring work processes. In 2010 Klous + Brandjes was split up into Klous + Brandjes Architecten and Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies. At this time, my activities are mainly for Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies.
BIM Consultant
Working from Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies, I am active as external BIM manager. I support and coach the BIM parties, and manage and coordinate the workflow and clash detection. Part of this function entails linking the IFC models of the different BIM partners and performing clash detections in Solibri.
I use my knowledge of the building process, gained through project management and supervision, to optimize the BIM proces. I also work for international clients to support BIM projects on the west coast of the US. The BIM workflow developed for this client has now been rolled out for several projects in Europe and the US.
Teacher BIM Academy
In addition to my regular activities, I am also an instructor and coach in our Klous + Brandjes BIM Academy, where we train unemployed construction engineers to be excellent modelers. We then post these people on secondment to parties that want to start working with BIM, but lack the facilities or capacity. During the international economic crisis, we helped 19 job seekers find a steady job, some even in our own office. We offer this training to people who have the right mentality to integrate into our organization, and will add value to the collaborations we have with the different BIM partners.
The future BIMmers also participate in a coaching course, so we can help them work at their soft skills, ending up with modelers that are perfect team members.
